Sydney Neal

Biography

Sydney Neal has been a key player in leading the charge for Duke Swerve from 2021 to 2025. As a relentless over-the-top defender and versatile hybrid with monster hucks and stellar field awareness, Sydney has consistently set the tone for her team, earning her reputation as the centerpiece of Swerve’s success.

Sydney’s ultimate career began in high school with USN Brutal Grassburn from 2017 to 2021 and Tennessee Girl’s Equinox YCC in 2018. Outside of the collegiate game, she continued to play club with both Nashville ‘Shine (’21–’23) and Bay Area Sunshine (’24). A two-time USA U20 and U24 WJUC tryout invitee, she’s certainly made a name for herself as a dominating force in the Atlantic Coast Region. In 2024, she earned Atlantic Coast All-Region Honorable Mention — a testament to her impact on the field and the respect she dedicates to the game and supporting her team.

Aside from her accolades, Sydney stands out by embodying the spirit of the game. As a Swerve captain, Sydney has played a huge role in leading by example and helping to develop younger players. Whether she’s grinding it out for several points on end or cracking jokes and posing for silly photos on the sideline, she’s got the mojo you need — confident, motivated, and all-in for her team.

Duke Swerve is honored to nominate Sydney Neal for the Callahan Award.
