Biography
Poppy began her ultimate career in high school, playing her first-ever game with her Science Olympiad friends, where she immediately stepped into a hole and broke her ankle. Luckily, she didn’t stop there. She went on to become a founding member of Philadelphia’s U17 girl’s YCC team and later placed third with the U20 team in 2023. This summer, she will return to the program as a coach!
Today, Poppy is a pivotal handler in the Philadelphia professional and club scene, with two years of experience playing for Philadelphia Surge and Philly Flight. As a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania, she was an incredibly important piece on Venus, helping lead the team to a regional championship for the first time in several years. Now a junior captain, Poppy leads with care and thoughtfulness. She is absurdly silly in the best way, with a knack for making people feel comfortable, valued, and included on the team. On the field, her height and speed make her difficult to guard in the handler space, and combined with her deadly hucks and pulls, she is a force to be reckoned with.
