Biography

Kailyn started playing ultimate in her sophomore year of college during the pandemic and quickly developed into a key contributor for Pleiades, starting at (and winning) the first Nationals she attended in 2021. She then went on to win three more National titles with Pleiades and a world title with USA U24 Mixed in 2023 (making the National team just two years after beginning her Ultimate career). Beyond her accolades, Kailyn is a gritty player with a lot of heart. She is asked to take the hardest matchup on the other team’s O-line, initiate our D line offense, and cross to O whenever we need her, making her a crucial all-around weapon for Pleiades. Kailyn was on the sideline almost all of the 2024 season with four stress fractures in her spine, yet still showed up for our team each and every day with a loud sideline presence and proud mom defensive coaching style (“every time we play really good team defense I tear up a little”). She returned to play at Nationals in 2024 and played the vast majority of our points to lead Pleiades to a fourth National title. Pleiades nominated Kailyn for the Callahan award because of her powerful play style, loud sideline presence, overwhelming commitment to her team, and her kindness and welcoming nature as a teammate. In her five years, Kailyn has made Pleiades an amazing place to play Ultimate and we are so excited to celebrate her career with this nomination.
