Biography
Jia Johnson is a consistent leader and playmaker on the field, for both Boston University Uprising and as a captain for the University of Florida FUEL. She strives for excellence in her college career, attending college nationals in 2021 and leading FUEL through a 22-5 2025-26 season and domination at Florida sectionals. Jia pushes her teammates to their max, keeping the team focused on goals at the individual and season levels. In her club career, Jia dominated in Tampa’s Calypso in 2022, B-Unit from 2023-2024, and captained Tabby Rosa in 2025. Her hucks terrorize opponents as a consistent driver up the field, and an alert defender forcing turnovers. Jia’s invitation to U-24 tryouts is a testament to her skill at an elite college level, which carries over to every team she is a part of.
As a leader, Jia is a focused, motivating, and grounded teammate who leads by example. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge that she uses to help any teammates who ask for advice, and is always the first on the line for the next point. Team energy is a priority for Jia, always ensuring her teammates are in the right headspace and that the team is fired up (IYKYK).
