Biography
From team: “Fiona Cashin started playing ultimate as a first year in 2020 and soon became one of the best the country has seen. After just two years of playing, she joined Atlanta Ozone and made her club nationals debut, followed by becoming a captain the very next year. Her presence on the field has been consistently recognized with consecutive appearances in the All-Region roster, as well as her nomination for Defensive Player of the Year. Cashin is a do it all defender with incredible shows of athleticism in her layout D’s. On offense, she’s a team’s worst nightmare, able to get open on virtually anyone, illustrated by her top 5 goal scoring finish at 2023 Nationals. However, Cashin’s impact transcends more than simply being an on-field presence. She embodies the spirit of the game, dedicating countless hours to the Georgia ultimate program. In her first year of captaining Athena, she took it upon herself to create an entirely new team. She led the charge in creating Medusa, UGA’s B team, who have now qualified for regionals in just their second year of being a team. Cashin is the face of UGA ultimate, and has inspired many with her courage, passion, and leadership. She perfectly embodies the spirit of the Callahan award, and the game of Ultimate should be honored to have her.”
