Biography
Matti started playing ultimate in middle school at the Carolina Friends School in 2014. He represented North Carolina at YCCs for 6 years, including 3 seasons with Triforce before joining North Carolina State Alpha for college. Matti made an immediate impact on the field with his defensive versatility and his hucking skill. As he developed as a player, he naturally emerged as a leader among his teammates and has captained the team for the past 3 years. He led the team to a quarterfinals appearance at 2024 Nationals as a steady presence on and off the field.
Matti is one of the most loyal friends and teammates that anyone could ask for and has made a lasting impact on the program, both with the culture he created as well as with his play. He’s been described by his teammates as caring, determined, dedicated, and passionate. He is NC State Alpha’s clear choice for the Callahan, embodying everything the award represents.
