Matt Nieto. Despite Big Bear trying to give this man a nickname for years, there is not one word or phrase that fully encapsulates his style. Smart. Explosive. Creative. Unguardable. Lockdown. Unbelievable. Nearly any word you can use to describe a good player, Matt has it. From the most athletic layouts in the Metro East, to breaking the ankles of any defender unfortunate enough to guard him, to embarrassing every mark imaginable, Matt has all that and more. It is safe to say that not a single team we played this year had an answer to this absolute athletic demon.
Matt is as complete as they come. His dedication to his craft and hard work are second to none. He leads Big Bear with a style that earns the respect and love of his teammates like no one else. Not only is Matt someone that players want to emulate on the field, he is someone who models what it’s like to be a competitor off the field too. Matt has the perfect blend of raw competitive fire, love of the game, and athletic professionalism, which is why he has earned the right to be called our Callahan nominee.
