Marshall Wildmann

Biography

UCLA’s Marshall “Nightwing” Wildmann lives and breathes ultimate. He first began playing ultimate in middle school in Berkeley, CA, and during high school went on to win a national championship with Berkeley High School. He has played for various different club teams – youth, open, and mixed – including two seasons with San Francisco Revolver, and in 2022 received a tryout for Team USA U24. During his time at UCLA, he captained twice and almost made nationals five times.
Marshall is a work horse on the field. He visibly (and audibly) pushes himself to his limit during practices and games and routinely burns opposing teams’ best defenders deep. He jumps much higher than he has any right to be able to and, on defense, wants the disc more than anyone else on the field. Without Marshall’s elite level of play and his leadership as a captain and player, UCLA would not have had nearly the level of success on the field and camaraderie off of the field that it has had over the last five years. His selflessness and kindness as a teammate contributed indispensably to a truly special team culture – one of trust, family, and love. The intensity and laughter that Marshall brought to every practice will be sorely missed. Better than anyone, he understands what college ultimate is really about.
It is our honor and joy to nominate Marshall for the Callahan, an award whose spirit he fully embodies. Thank you, Nightwing.
