Luke Holtzman

Biography

Luke Holtzman has been the heart and soul of Columbia Uptown Local (UpLo) since the day he arrived. A dynamic offensive force and constant source of composure, Luke’s impact goes far beyond the stat sheet. He is the engine that powers this team – raising both its floor and ceiling – and every point with him on the line is a privilege. A former captain and ever-present mentor, Luke leads by example with unmatched dedication, calm intensity, and a fierce commitment to elevating those around him.

Before Columbia, Luke built a decorated career as a collegiate cross country runner at SUNY-Geneseo. There, he was a three-time All-Atlantic Region selection, a two-time All-SUNYAC finisher, and an All-American at the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships. His achievements earned him a place on Geneseo’s All-Decade Team.

Luke’s mental resilience is just as impressive as his accolades. He overcame shoulder surgery to return to high-level ultimate while balancing the intense demands of graduate school. His unwavering dedication – to both the team and the game – is nothing short of inspirational.

Luke Holtzman is a superstar on the field, a mentor off of it, and a teammate everyone would be lucky to have. He embodies precisely what the Callahan Award stands for: competitive excellence, leadership, and love for the game. UpLo is better because of him, and the community is stronger for having him in it.
