The Tufts Emen are proud to introduce Eliav Malone as our Callahan Award nominee.
Coming to Tufts as a freshman in 2022, Eliav had never played organized ultimate frisbee. Instead, he was a dominant, multi-sport athlete at Irvington High School, captaining both varsity basketball and lacrosse teams. He wasn’t set on which sport to pursue at Tufts – initially, he tried out for the Tufts varsity lacrosse team (the best D3 lacrosse team in the country with back-to-back national titles) and walked on as a freshman. But, he would later step away to join another team that caught his eye: The Tufts Emen.
Over the years, Eliav’s progression has been remarkable. He has transitioned from someone learning to throw a flick in the fall of ‘22 to one of the greatest deep threats in the college division. But, this didn’t just happen overnight. Through countless practices, lifts, film sessions, and more, Eliav’s work ethic and dedication to the Emen has not just brought him to new heights, but ultimately led to the success of the team in many critical situations.
While Eliav’s success as a player is incredibly impressive, his impact on the team is what will be remembered. A leader by example, he continues to inspire those around him to push themselves harder and go the extra mile. A friend to all on the Tufts Emen, Eliav has left his mark on this program, and we are incredibly proud to nominate him for this prestigious award.
