Marie Perivier is a senior from Atlanta who plays for Athena at the University of Georgia. She began playing ultimate in 2011, competing in the open division throughout middle and high school. In 2016, she first gained recognition when she earned a spot on the Junior Worlds team. Atlanta Ozone welcomed her to their roster in 2017, making her the youngest player at Club Nationals that year. She attended Club Words with Ozone the following year. Since moving to Athens for college, she has continued to compete at an elite level, playing with the Atlanta Soul and impressing fans during a highly anticipated People of Color showcase game in Atlanta in 2019.
During her freshman year on Athena, Marie led the team to their first appearance at Nationals since 2013. After Athena’s performance that year, she was named second runner-up for 2019 Freshman of the Year. She was also named as Freshman of the Region and listed on the Southeast All-Region team. For the fall 2021 season, she was voted to be a top-five finalist for the Callahan Award and was named second runner-up for Offensive Player of the Year. She has been a captain on the team since her sophomore year, and this spring she led a team composed of 63% rookies to win the Southeast Region. Marie’s teammates not only count on her fierce presence on the field, but they also enjoy her innate ability to balance competitive intensity with a silly, fun-loving demeanor.
