Elizabeth Diamond

Elizabeth “Betty” Diamond is a senior captain on our team BU Uprising. When she is on the field, her impact is immediately felt on both offense and defense. Her speed immediately makes an impact on the field where she is unguardable in the handler space. She is a very high-level defender, with smart poach D, heads up IQ in the air and a collection of handblocks. On the mark, Betty is one of our leaders in hand blocks as well. Every summer, Betty returned after adding more tricks to her bag and gaining confidence. Watching her play, people would have no idea that Betty only started playing her freshman year of college. And absolutely nobody would have guessed that after only one year of college ultimate, Betty would make Columbus Cocktails and would go on to help them place ninth at Club Nationals 2019. With that experience, Betty led the charge for BU Uprising’s first-ever Nationals appearance in fall 2021, and we had the time of our lives just throwing discs with our pals. While we may not have much or any footage of her playing, Betty is integral to the growth this team has had over the past 4 years. Conferences 4 years ago, we were happy to get the last bid to regionals, and this year we placed 2nd. Betty inspired many of the newcomers to our team to commit to the game and play ultimate over the summer. Her impact will be felt for years to come.
