Biography

Clara Stewart arrived at Northeastern University as a member of the women’s club team Boston Siege and having already won a gold medal with the United States U20 Girls National Team. As a first year during the 2019 Spring season, Clara stepped into a center handler position and helped lift Northeastern to our first Nationals appearance since 2014. Clara took on a leading communication role through the lost 2020 and 2021 college seasons and emerged as one of the top players in the country during the Spring of 2022, captaining the Valkyries back to Nationals. As a captain in 2023, Clara led Northeastern to an undefeated regular season with tournament wins at Florida Winter Classic, Commonwealth Cup and Centex. In addition to her play in the college division, Clara is entering her third season with the club mixed team Lexington Sprocket and recently earned a spot on the United States U24 Mixed National Team.
Clara is among the most talented players in the college women’s division, with a competitive drive that matches her enormous throwing arsenal. She is the backbone of the Northeastern offensive and defensive attacks (have you seen her pulls?!) and harnesses her ability to consistently get open with throws that activate the entire field, allowing her to bring out the very best in every one of her teammates. Off the field, Clara helps carry the heavy burden of team logistics and works to create inclusive space for her entire program.
