Alex has been playing with UCSD Dragon Coalition (D-Co) since 2017, and this uniquely timed Nationals concludes her third season with the team. Alex joined the team during her sophomore year and has gone on to play on competitive club teams, including SD Wildfire and LA Lotus. Alex also plays professionally as a member of San Diego Superbloom in the WUL.
Her remarkably strong offensive capabilities are matched with an incredibly deep defensive skillset that not only includes her intimidating athleticism but also her high level of ultimate intelligence. These notes are only a snapshot of why Alex was recognized as Ultiworld’s 2019 College AND Club Breakout Player of the Year. Alex reaches out to younger players on the team and has put in great efforts to build the UCSD ultimate program. We are very proud to have Alexandra Diaz as our 2021 Callahan nominee and hope you can join us in celebrating her incredible college career.
Note from Alex:
“Over my years on Dragon Coalition, I have had the amazing opportunity to learn from and play with some of the best collegiate coaches and players in the country, including those on our 2019 National Championship team. Ultimate is such a phenomenal sport and community, and I’m so excited to play and contribute to it for years to come. I’m extremely honored to be nominated by my amazing teammates for this award, and I hope that I can embody even just a small fraction of what it represents.”
