Nilos Makino

Biography

Nilos Makino started playing ultimate at Winchester High School in 2016 and went on to play for the Ozone Pilots at Boston University in the fall of 2018.

After the team just finished short at conferences his freshman year at BU, he was elected captain and took the role to heart in progressing the team to new heights. In the following year, he led the team to a very successful fall and early spring season, with a huge seed-breaking performance at Mid-Atlantic Warm Up 2020. Once COVID struck, Nilos did not sit still and instead organized team zoom workouts and film sessions. During his senior year, he led the team to a lot of tournament success with a first place win at Hucktastic and fourth place at Huck Finn.

During his senior year, he shared his enthusiasm for ultimate with the youth of Boston by coaching for BUA high school. The BUA players insist he is one of the funniest people on this earth.

Alongside the youth and college scene, he has been involved in Boston club ultimate. In 2019, he played on Darkwing where he showcased his potential as an elite thrower. On their roster, he was the center D-line handler and distributed the disc with ease. In 2021, he was a practice player for Slow White and played on Somerville BAG. On Slow, he learned and gathered a ton of elite experience which he thoroughly carried over to BAG leading to a very successful regionals run.
