Matt Johnson

Biography

Matt started his ultimate career at Edina High School where he captained his team to a second-place finish at high school nationals. His stellar performance was recognized, leading to a U20 tryout. He then attended ISU and was immediately a top player on the team. Matt continues to seek the highest level of play possible, practicing with Windchill and Sub-Zero while playing for Mallard in the club season. During his time at Iowa State, Matt has become the recognizable face of ISUC and earned an honorable mention for the North Central All-Region team. In his final year, Matt is a captain and the clear best player on the ISUC squad. As a captain, Matt leads by example putting in work on and off the field to be the best he can be. The team and coaches trust Matt to fill any role necessary. On defense or offense, Matt’s talent and versatility make him a threat everywhere on the field. As a teammate, Matt has made a concerted effort to organize teambuilding activities to build a closer bond between and within the A and B teams, building a development pipeline for the future of ISUC. As one of the most experienced players, Matt has also taken countless players under his wing to help them develop defensive positing, offensive cut timing and spacing, throwing mechanics, and overall game sense. In his free time, Matt is an avid fan of board games and D&D.
