Biography
Jacob Herz was born and raised in Natick, Massachusetts. Formerly a competitive soccer player, Jacob discovered his love for frisbee when he gave the sport a try as a Junior in high school. When all 5’2” of Jacob arrived at William & Mary as a freshman, he cut hard and threw exclusively resets, earning a role on the starting D line.
After his freshman year, Jacob sought out club frisbee, finding his place on the self-appointed sexiest team in the division, Darkwing Ultimate. Even though he was the youngest player on the team, Jacob was entrusted as Darkwing captain in his second year. Then, after moving to DC the next summer, Jacob competed with Virginia Vault, gaining top-level club experience in the men’s division.
Jacob has brought all of his club leadership and playing experience to W&M, captaining the Merrymen for his Junior and Senior years. Jacob is too loud and talks too much, allowing him to immediately fit in as a voice in leadership. Previously the team’s largest crashout, despite his size, Jacob transformed into a true leader, channeling his need for competition into pure confidence that is displayed on the field. Jacob also prides himself in his scrappiness and ability to seek the disc on both sides of the field, cementing himself as the team’s biggest stat padder, boasting a career plus/minus of over 400.
