Dan is a senior majoring in Communication Arts and Religious Studies. He started playing ultimate in the Triangle area before moving to Madison when he was in 10th grade. Dan played three years for Edgewood High School before enrolling at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He played a year and a half for the Wisconsin B-team before being called up midway through the season his sophomore year.
While not playing much that year, the work Dan put in both on and off the field was palpable. Consistently working tirelessly at workouts, as well as helping to plan gender equity meetings with our women’s programs, Dan showed incredible commitment to bettering himself, the Hodags and the Wisconsin ultimate community. His junior year, his work paid off and he turned into one of the primary handlers for the d-line, taking tough match-ups and marshaling the offense on a turn. His pulls consistently put the defense in prime position to get blocks, hanging for seemingly hours and allowing the team to set up.
Dan’s endless positivity, fantastic spirit and undying work ethic make him an excellent teammate and the embodiment of a Hodag, as well as a perfect candidate for the Callahan Award.View Nominee Video
